Could the shaddow in the night make this a regular thing when we get updated new channels? For example some of the recent RSN launches are not on there like 636 that went live Monday.

This will be a nice resource though if you have breakups on a particular channel or something.

I have several transponders in the 95 range, but a few in the 70 range that I want to keep an eye on to see if I need to repeak.

Take a look at transponder 6 & 11 - 5 channels.

At first I thought they would turn off the PPV for RSNs like E* is doing, but the RSNs on these transponders are up 24/7.

I guess those new encoders can do more than 4.

The new harmonic encoders supposidly can do 6, allthough I dont think that is in full rez mode. Unless directv has found another MPEG4 vender that can do better. Thanks to the OP who posted that file. Its kind of crazy how much were growing here and the info we get

I wonder how many mbps that translate to? It can't be more than 7-8 mbps unless they are using a technology that we are not aware of.

There are so few companies making HD h.264 encoder/stat muxes that I would be surprised if Dish/Direct aren't using the same equipment. The only difference right now is the modulation used on the transponder. I'm sure if Direct could get a higher bitrate on their TPs we'd see more channels crammed on each.

Channel map updated. Please let me know if I have missed a channel. Future update will include native resolution of channel (not transmitted res).

Have been playing around with the information we have so far.

103(b) has 16 active transponders.

At four channels per transponder you get very high quality HD and 64 channels.

At five channels per transponder you get quality HD and 80 channels.

At six channels per transponder I'm sure this may have an impact on the overall image quality they can have 96 channels.

Add in four mpeg2 two channels from 119 and you get the magic number promised this year of 100.

They will need to get D11 up to maintain the quality and further the HD expansion.

Matt
