    EXACTLY! The PQ sucks; as in black, as it is not offered at ALL - at ANY PRICE; give it a rest already. FiOS is NOT the end-all, be-all. They are a great VERY regional provider that fills some need market wise. I will pay less money overall with DirecTV for likely less than 1% or 2% difference in PQ AND I get programming MOST FiOS TV users would pee themselves to have and my own hand-selected ISP, telephone/VoIP, and cellular providers. With services I prefer and are better; with the noted exception of the ISP 8mbps vs the FiOS faster service. Now I can't yet speak to the FiOS customer service, but I have ZERO issues across the board with those I have now and there is absolutely no issues with needing to pay one company vs 2, 3 or whatever.

    DirecTV HR22, H21, H23, HR20, Mitsubishi HC1500 96", Sanyo PLV-Z 106", Acer H5360 92", Insignia NS-51P680A12 51", Onkyo TX-NR708, Onkyo HT-R550, Sony BDP-S570, Sony PS3 (x2), D-Link Gigabit Network, ViaTalk Unlimited VoIP ($13/mo)

As others have said, E* markets to budget conscious consumers while D* uses a much different business model than E*. They want long term credit worthy subs. Those are the ones that won't be chased off by up front costs and use "advanced services" which account for almost half of D*'s subs now according to their latest financial reports. Their position on this isn't going to change and in the long run your costs with D* will be about the same as E*. The big difference is you'll have the channels you want.
    Here,here as an ex-E* sub and now back with D* over 3 1/2 years now I totally agree. Nothing like playing channel roulette with Charlie and the boys everytime a new one rolls out.

    Trust me i have not trolling i never post in DTV area i had DTV 1x time in my life back wehn they had ussb.
    Considering they don't have dual tuner DVR's it is still a valid question. I had a dual tuner DVR with Dish and only used it on one TV so I did not need two boxes to do what the one did. That is why it is still tough to know what equipment is needed for your setup. Was the deal for the following

    2 - HD-DVR's
    1 = HD
    2 = SD

    ?????

    It is just hard to validate your point when you don't let people know what you are paying for.

    This is not always true for companies. With my cable systems it is cheaper for me to have service from three different providers than it is to have their bundle for the three services. You also say that FIOS is the end all be all, but what about us that don't live in a Verizon area and never will have such a service?

    Verzion customer service is a crapshot. Once you get to a human you will find yourself in transfer hell.

    Why?

    With the cost of the lease upgrade fees your subsidising the cost of the equipment. The HD DVR alone would cost well over $600 to buy.

    If you think Directv is too expensive then why are you considering it as one of your options? Just cross it off your list and choose another service.

    Doesn't everyone have more HD channels than FiOS?
