There is NO way to remove those channels/titles from search. And I, for one, would rather not have to page through six screen of "School Girl Sluts" or "Big Boobs 1-16" to find the program I'd ACTUALLY like to record. And the argument that the "Channels I Receive" doesn't work is a promotional tool is totally bogus. The distant networks (in the 80s and 380/90s) aren't even available for sale to most customers, yet appear in many, MANY people's "Channels I Receive" listings.

Frankly, they should just remove the option if they can't/won't make it work.
    Yup, especially the porn.

These are teachable moments for the adults in the room to present reasons why some things are not going to happen. There was a two year black out of TV here because my son was getting lost in TV land.

I am offended by some of the religious programming and resent some of the so called news channels that are actually presenting political points of view as fact instead of opinion.

So I just don't push some buttons. The guide is just a guy with a push cart shouting to sell what he has.

Personally, I think they haven't tried hard to fix this at all.

If they can keep you from receiving the channels, it can't be hard to keep you from seeing those channels in your Guide. They've got to have a bit turned on or off in there somewhere.

Otherwise, I need to have 3 customizable Favorites list options. Fav 1 for building an actual list of the channels that I get, Fav 2 for those that I might normally have an interest, and Fav 3 for my short list of favorites.

What he mentions that the distant networks are unfortunately not available for "served" households, but only for "unserved" households and those who don't recieve locals on satellite. I think it's a SHVERA thing.
My parents are D* subscribers since 2009 with Choice Xtra package w/ Greenville, SC locals. DirecTV H23/600 (my room), DirecTV H21/200 (living room), 2 D* SD recievers (one in my dad's room and my brother's room).

I'd think you'd still want to create your own favorites list to avoid all the seemingly couple thousand infommercial/shopping channels.

Sure, but keyword searches and autorecords dont use the favorites list, they use the 'channels I get' list, which as we've already determined isnt really the channels you get.

Easy way to fix it: cancel directv, get a tivo and put it on fios or cable. Tivo lets you select which channels you want to see and which ones you dont, and their search and wishlist work on the channels you've asked it to, and are actually receiving.

    Problem solved in 1999.

    Channels I Get Problem solved

Sadly but unfortunately, the "Channels I Get" problem is solved. When I checked to see the channel listings for 390 (CBSeHD), 391 (CBSwHD), 392 (NBCeHD) 393 (NBCwHD), 396 (ABCeHD), 397 (ABCwHD), 398 (FOXeHD), and 399 (FOXwHD), all of the distants that we can't get disappeared and it turns to 401 (Univision) instead. I know we can't get distant channels if you live in the "served" area (Thanks to the SHVERA issue). It shows the channels you can actually get including your actual locals in your DMA.

I recently went to record a kids' Christmas program that began the 12 Days of ... Look up 12 Days and the first two pages of titles I had to go through were porn. All with gross names I'd prefer not to have to read, or have my little one read through either. (He can't read yet, but I just can't wait until he can and asks "What's 12 Days of Big Black D@#!s?") Seriously, DirecTV is OK with this?

I should not have to be skeeved out just to use the search feature.

Many of the channels are now gone. But not nearly all of them. It should display only those channels to which you current subscribe. Yet if I attempt to view several channels from the Guide, I get a 721 Error message, informing me that I don't subscribe to this channel.

Still, it is good to see some progress being made.
