Price Increase Coming...
ADVERTS
Got a call from a friend who does a lot of DirecTV commercial work, and he was informed that commercial pricing was going up...
The Inroom Choice Package is going from $270 a month to $285 a month
The Locals Package is going from $34.99 to $39.99 a month
and ESPN is going from $3.85 to $4.25 a month.
He says this new commercial pricing goes into effect on January 1st.
With such heafty increases in the commercial realm, one can only wonder what is going to happen with the consumer pricing.

I easily expect a 5% increase. Working in the finance of my division I can understand these things. There of course will be many stating they are jumping to Dish or somewhere. I am not one for the promo games. However, if Directv announces a substantial HD lineup additions prior to the increase it will be relatively quiet.
In the end the D-12 has to be paid for somehow.

I don't work in the finance of my division but it's not to hard to figure out that DIRECTV will have a slight residential price increase in 2010. They have a small price increase every year, doesn't bother me. It's called inflation. The price of groceries goes up a little over time, the price of a postage stamp goes up, etc..
I'm not gonna jump to DISHNETWORK.
It's kinda funy each year when I see a thread about DIRECTV price increases and they'll be replies like -
I just called DIRECTV and changed my service to only the basic service(no premiums).
I cancelled everything and I'm switched to cableTV !
I can't take it anymore !!
I just got off the phone with DISHNETWORK, they're gonna be out on Wednesday to hook me up !! I'll get SHOWTIME free for 3 months.

Yes, its kind of expected each year, as long as the companies continue to add on things, its ok.

Juan,
What do you consider a small price increase ?
What do you consider a large price increase ?

I would agree but, if $5 is the breaking point than you have much other issues.
to the other post on small versus large
Small 0-10%
Larger 11% or greater
A 10% increase reflects only a 10.50 in the premier package. I can find 10+ dollars of something I don't need if that is the breaking point.

Unfortunately every Feb comes with price increases. This is due to the annual contracts ending and renegotiated prices are put into effect.
If you don’t like price increase, well………….. yell at the programmers !!!! These are the people responsible for your increases not the providers.
