Back with Directv, well ......
ADVERTS
Well I took the plunge again.
I signed up with D* I didn't get any HD equipment at this time, But I got a D12 and a R-16 for now.
I got Starz and Showtime Free for 3 months and $10 off per month for the first Year.
Not Bad As I came back as an exsiting customer.
I only Signed up for now With the Choice Package and No Locals, Since it was $53 per month, and I still Have E* with Locals and HD.
Going to test it out a little longer and see what ends up being the better value in then end with the Satellite launch, Then I'll upgrade to HD.
The R16 is Still a little slow to respond, But I'm going to keep an open mind about it.
So far I can deal with it since they threw in a Nice Eagles RF remote for free.
Local on the 8's is nice , wouldn't mind a better radar loop, But its a start.
PQ is decent, so is the 2nd tv that I have hooked up to the R'16 VIA coax. Its Quite impressive since it travels about 50 feet to the 2nd tv.
And the Eagles RF remote works fantastic on changing channels in the 2nd location.
I'm a little worried about my bill now , Since I asked D* when I placed my order if there will be an increase, and of course they said no.
I called Saturday night and got my install about 5 minutes ago.
So I saw the increase on Satellite Guys and was going to change my mind ,But I said I'll go for it.
OH well.
If anyone has any thoughts or insite on anything I'll enjoy it.

welcome back buddy. you shouldn't see an increase. i got an email from D* specifying that since i was still under the promo offer i would be receiving a monthly credit for the increase.
here's a copy of what is posted on their website.
If your current DIRECTV base package price is part of a national promotional 12-month or “Lock in Your Price for 12 Months” offer, you will continue to receive this price
for the remainder of your offer period. As of next month’s bill, your promotional price will be shown on your statement as the new price along with a credit. Note: if you
change your current base package, you may no longer be eligible for the credit.Dish Member 1999-2008 vip622 & vip211, Directv Member since 2008 HR24-500 am21 & HR20-700 swm lnb, Sirius Member 2003-2012

Right you should see a 3 dollar credit pop up when the cost of your package goes up. choice will go up but then you start seeing you 3 dollar price lock credit. Assuming how they set you back up as a winback customer.

Don't Be

I'm placing my money on the D12 launch.
If it is a Success even with a $3 increase, I may Turn in the VIP equipment.
It will be sad ,but I think I'll save more money in the long run.
I'm thinking by March if all looks good, I'll drop my d12 for HR- something, and If I can get a HR-pro I might go that route.
Right now though, I want to play around with this R16, Any suggestions, Can I do anything with it?

I did the same. I wanted two HDDVR's so it was a good deal and I have $26 off for 12 mo's.
I know most cant see the difference, but I still feel like D* has made a better effort at looking out for PQ, as opposed to Dish. I'm glad to see they stuck to their guns with 5 channels per tp. Just gotta watch the contract renewal scams.
