Well you can call it gouging and roll your eyes, or you can face facts and accept that $20-25 to watch several hours of football in your home is not a bad deal. If you're in a team's coverage area and have to watch some games locally then maybe it's not for you... and that's OK.

I understand the hate on price increases in general, I'm OK that a line has to be drawn in the sand and things get unaffordable even when a price increase is not significant. There's little need to be irrational however.

What I meant was the "its a recession, I cannot believe they are raising prices" comment. That was beat to death last year.

The price per weekend really isn't that bad for what I enjoy out of it. I don't mind paying less than $20-25 or so per NFL weekend to see my team and several hours of the red zone channel. Wife and I are home every Sunday and get our money's worth for the package.
Less per provider, but more total providers, thus they could potentially get the same amount of money.

you sound like me and my wife. she enjoys this too! when you put it that way it doesn't sound that bad at all but we'll see. i guess it all depends where i am economically by the time of renewal but it doesn't look great for me,especially since i always set a limit from the beginning to what i was willing to pay for the nflst. i do love it though.

    'potentially' a multi-billion dollar gamble.

If other providers carried ST the price would definitely be lower. First, the amount Direct would have to pay the NFL for ST would be less, thus cost to subs would be less. Second, Direct uses ST as a niche grabber for subs and can set the prices higher than they would be if other providers carried ST because they cannot go anywhere else.
the last year ST was available on c-band in 1998 (i think) paid $99. could have gotten it for $79 if i had ordered it before july 1 or maybe the15th.
