Thread: Multi Room DVR question

ADVERTS
It would not surprise me if they required the $99 upgrade fee. This way they can install the Deca modules and SWiM for all of the MRV installation. I personally would not want to support any customers network with a product that I was providing. To many things that you can not support to get in the way.

So let me understand this...I already have my DVR's networked via hardwired Cat5 as well. What do I need, then, to get MRV? Just force the download?
IOW, if my DVR's are networked already, I only need to DL the update and boom, my bill increases $3/mo but I have MRV?Last edited by eapeas; 03-18-2010 at 10:04 PM.

I am running software 0x3a8 and under the setup menu there is Multi-Room. Very easy to set up.
If DirecTV forces me to pay anything more than $3/mo they can keep it. I'm not asking them to support my home network. Nobody touches my network but me. I work in IT. If they do charge more then a monthly fee I'm going to Uverse after being with DirecTV for a lot of yearsProud owner of 100 shares of DirecTV

Ask to see my setup.

Th latest buzz is that MRV will cost $3.00 per month. You can network them yourself and pay the $3.00 but will receive no tech support from DirecTV. You can also choose the DirecTV DECA version, which will require a SWM setup, and the DECA adapters. Who knows what that will cost...I've heard as little as $50.00. The advantage to that is DirecTV will support it...like others, I have been using it via CE releases since mid-summer. I will pay the $3.00 but I won't pay for DECA, my ethernet network works fine...
eapeas, does that answer your question?

So where does it state that they will activate MRV with your own home network? Everything I have seen is that right now they are adding the MRV upgrade fee to give you SWiM and Deca.

They already have. I can't imagine them turning off all the CE'ers and current beta testers because they won't buy DECA and upgrade to SWM.
Nothing is in writing yet, I am relying on the rumors here and over at the "other" site....

I can personally easily see them turning off the CE'ers and other beta testers as it is such a small number of people.

The insiders all over the net are saying that you can use your own network without support if you choose to.That is the opposite of what they were saying a few days ago. All new installs will be SWM and be offered DECA. This is only being done in the 4 test areas right now but should be national in a few months. The $3 price is being stated as well.
