Broadband Connection and "moving"
ADVERTS 1
Buddy wants to know if the broadband connection will somehow mess up his "moved" receivers. Does Directv use the connection to audit locations?

My "buddy" moved, still has his receiver connected to the internet without any problems. His phone line is disconnected.........
I have two thoughts on the matter. One, DirecTV really doesn't care. Two, IP addresses rarely show the exact location, it's usually a general area (Unless the ISP is questioned via court order/subpoena). If I check mine via one of the many IP lookups available it shows I'm 75 miles from where I really am.....

No, it makes no difference. With proxies, mobile 'net, etc. it would be too much to track. It's all tied to your service address.
