HR22 receiver turns on by itself
ADVERTS 1
The past week or so I've been finding the DTV receiver is ON in the morning. Also the guide has been randomly popping up with no interaction from us.
As background we were gone for 3 weeks and I remotely program several programs to record. When we got home I noticed the receiver was ON.
Also during the timeframe we were gone there was a firmware update to 0x4e2 on 11/30/11. I forced an update and it's still showing the same version.
Any similar experiences with this problem?

When you turn the recvr on with remote programing, (I'm guessing your talking about setting it thru your Cell phone or online ?).
I am not sure if the recvr will be told to shut off when done or not.
However, the recvr is never off anyways, the only thing different is that the front lights are turned off, the recvr runs all the time in case you turn it on and want to watch something in the buffer.
As for the new software, that was a NR (National Release) so you'll get that version again till a new one comes out unless you get into the Cutting Edge beta software.
In this particular case, I don't see anything to worry about.
Now if it turns on and off on it's own, thats another issue, coming on with a program your wanting to record is normal.Let the Urban Era Begin !!!

Sounds like the remote receiver section may be hinky if it is doing random button presses.
Do you have a new LED or plasma TV in the room or have you rearranged furniture recently? Some TVs are known to mess with IR signals.

is the OP using the original D* remote or one like for example the harmony remote? this exact same thing happened to a friend of mine and it was the remote. some of the keys were sticking and causing similar issues the op has.

The room has not been rearranged.
I'm using a DTV remote... model RC32. I'm experimenting with it under a pillow out of sight of the receiver.
Not sure if a power disconnect does the same as a red button reset but when I checked the firmware version I did unplug for 30 seconds and repowered.
Thought I'd check to see if others have had a similar problem. I'll keep notes and if it continues give TS a call.

Since I posted the "problem" I'll followup with what I think was causing the receiver to come on at random times.
One of the front buttoms (Menu) was partly depressed. I wasn't obvious but when I looked carefully you could tell it wasn't fully out.
Now for the interesting part..... I think it was the wife's roomba that initially caused the problem. The receiver is on a bottom shelf that sits very close to the carpet. If I don't push the receiver back flush with the shelf the roomba tries to match with it during it's room cleaning chores. I've noticed it will routinely bump the receiver several times as it cleans the room. I thinking this is what pushed the botton
Any case I got the buttom fully out and no randoms behavior for several days.
