How to get directv to stop billing?

I lost my job about a month ago. Now I can't pay my D* bill.

Well to make matters worse, D* will only quit billing if I have a $0 balance.

This is absurd. I owe them money, told them I lost my job, but they keep billing me! Why can't they just stop billing me?

Because you are in a contact with them, you are charged for each month of service in the contract weather the service is on or not.

I have a contract with sprint. They can stop billing me, but it just extends my contract.

See if they will suspend service. You might have to be current for them to do it though.

Directv will do the same thing, but as the poster before me said, you most likely have to be current with your charges to do this.
I would call and calmly discuss this with them again. It might be all in who you talk to and how you talk to them.
