| | | Just installed...Is it ok to turn off HD-DVR and SD boxes at night? Noobie here...Sorry, did a search and couldn't find an answer to this one...
Just had my DirecTV installed and was wondering whether it would be ok to turn off the boxes at night, especially in the first couple weeks?
Does the box still know when to turn on to record programmed shows, etc?
Thanks!
P.S. This website has been a huge help in getting me to switch to satellite!

Yes, you can turn your box off without missing any recordings.
When you turn it off, it still runs, the lights go off but the recvr is still able to turn on and off for recordings.

did the tech not tell you the customer education?
also keep noted.. you can turn it off and it will still do its updates, record.. however.. if you UNPLUG it or turn off your power source to the Diretv box.. it will NOT function anything in the off mode.
