H22 DVR will not pickup updates

    ADVERTS 1
I recently bought a HR22 DVR receiver from a friend and when the tech tried to add the receiver, it would not pickup the updates. The sat signal strength never went above an "85 reading" so it would keep trying to pickup the updates. What can be done?

I believe the signal strength has to be at least some higher level before it will finish.
Therefore, the dish needs to re realigned.

Thanks! The tech SUPPOSEDLY did that. He stated that the signal strength has to be at least a 93 to pickup the updates. Do you think that maybe he didn't?

Did he run an "IV-retest"? This checks the signal level on a certain receiver. Normally the newest H/HR you have on the account. It may not have been ran on this certain receiver but if he ran it and it passed you don't have an alignment issue, sounds like a line issue.

Thanks! I will have someone check it out. And tell me, IF it is a line issue, then what needs to be done or what can be done?

Then a new line will need to be ran. However, I came across a problem today, the box showed very signals (H24) ran a test with my AIM meter and it showed good, swapped the receiver and signals were fine. Try taking another receiver in there first ad checking them. That would be a good start.

What updates did you expect it to receive? What release of the firmware is it running now?

I wish I could answer this question, but I can't. I know that it had a terrible time getting a reading above 85 when testing signal strength in that room. Bu I had DISH in that room before and had no issues getting a signal strength above 92.

    Strange really.
