    Slingbox and HR20 AV1/AV2 Setting

    ADVERTS
For anyone that has a Slingbox and has their HR20 set to AV1 or AV2, here are directions to make the remote work through Slingbox.

    JP1 Remotes :: File Section

    1. Download the file.
    2. Place it in Slingbox's SBAV folder. (C:\Program Files\Sling Media\SlingPlayer\SBAV)
    3. When going through the input wizard, select a directv remote but pick "other". Then enter S1378.

I did it this morning and works great.

If anyone has 2 HR20's next to each other and wants them controlled separately or wants one remote to control both units, here are some quick directions.

    1. Keep one HR20 as Directv
    2. On the second HR20, go into Menu - Setup - Remote - Receiver Mode - AV1 or AV2
    3. On remote, move slider to either AV1 or AV2
    4. Hold MUTE and SELECT down together for a few seconds until the top of remote blinks.
    5. Then type 00003

You have now programmed your remote to handle the default directv control and HR20 AV1/AV2 on remote and receiver.

Let me know if anyone has any questions.

You have to program both the receiver and the remote.

When on AV1 or AV2 on the remote, did you hit MUTE and SELECT together and type 00003? That defines the AV1 or AV2 to control an HR20 as AV1/AV2.

The next step is to make sure one of your receivers is controlled as AV1/AV2 and NOT DirecTV. Thats the Menu - Setup - Remote - Receiver Mode

If you are hitting power button right under the toggle and its turning TV off, then your AV1 or AV2 is still seeing it as TV being controlled. Try it again and see what happens.

Has to be 00003. Four zeros then 3.

Also make sure remote blinks twice on initial and after code. You have to hold the MUTE and SELECT down for at least 5 seconds for the blink to occur.

Keep trying on AV1 or AV2. If not you can always revert back to DIRECTV mode on receiver. You can set using menu buttons on receiver.

i mean, regardless of the setting on the remote, it won't let me change channel, go to menu, push any buttons, the entire thing is frozen.

Are you able to navigate via the buttons on the front of the unit? Unless the remote is set to AV1/AV2 and the code is not properly done and the unit is defined as AV1/AV2, you wont be able to control the unit through the remote. You then have to control the unit on the unit itself. If its stuck completely, a Red Button Reset is in order (RBR).
