from what i've read here it's a contract issue.

All of this speculation though. We really don't know what the delay is all about...

No, we don't.
But from the fact that they had to REMOVE a couple of HD-PPV channels to put up slates for these two we can infer they didn't have room available, so if it IS contractual why the hell would they remove viable sources of revenue before they knew they could broadcast SciFi/USA-HD in their place?
Not that it makes a GREAT deal of difference (we're not getting the channels, regardless) but it is a curious situation.

As far as getting some channels like Sci, USA and bbc in HD if its a space issue they could elliminate some of the Vooms and use those spaces. Way back before it stopped I had voom as my provider and it at least seemed like they would add some new stuff to Monster and KungFu and I was pleased but since I switched over to Dish after voom went away sadly they don't seem to add any new movies anymore & if their not going to get some new movies then why waste bandwidth on them.

I agree that eliminating some of the Voom channels would be a wise thing to do. If THey rolled the movie channels into one new Voom MOVIES channel they could free up some space and they could show the same movies that they show now over and over on 5 channels, only on one channels. This would free space for one transponder for something else. I frankly am starting to wonder if the Voom channels are even going to be in business the way they are going. I mean the same 2 movies over and over all day /night is a waste of bandwith and is causing people to turn off to their channels. IF they did drop the other movie channels and consolidate all the movies on one channel they could also drop the price by 5.00 which would make them closer to the cost of Directv's hd extra pack.

I do like some of the movies they play on the Voom movie channels, but they are few and far between. Dish really does need some more HD movie choices. It was great back in the Voom satellite service days... we had the four premiums east AND west, plus The Movie Channel, plus some of the Encore channels all in HD.
