Tonight I scanned the new high def channels for about 2 hours. I was amazed that I found very little high def content. Some of the channels, like ABC Family, were showing newer films, but they were not high def and had side bars. Disney has shown some movies this week but most I have seen are 4:3. Of course nothing on Cartoon Network is high def. CNN doesn't even show Larry King in high-def. The Weather Channel is rarely anything high def, same with many of the others. I am very glad about MGM HD, but I find their selection of movies not as good as FilmFest was. Funny thing is that FilmFest was showing alot of United Artists titles, which are owned by MGM, like Exodus, Man of La Mancha, and other big titles. MGM doesn't seem to show those big titles (I've been looking at their schedule online for months now). They own titles like Chitty Vhitty Bang Bang, The Apartment, Barefoot Contessa, Some Like it Hot, On the Beach, The Alamo, West Side Story, Irma La Douce, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Hawaii, Funny thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, How to Succeed in Business without really Trying, Man of La Mancha, yet they seem to be showing movies reviewed as one star and half I have never heard of and I am a huge movie fan. And I miss Monsters HD too.

No I'm getting more unhappy as time goes on as I watch more and more of what they substituted for the Voom channels. Lots of standard def programming.

Well you can switch to D* and get the same result. Except D* has even more HD channels that show little HD content. Get used to it. Might be that why for awhile.

No I won't switch to D*..which is just more of the same....I like my external hard drive and really like this dvr (622). Just hoping some of these channels obtain more true hd content, and just maybe Voom will return as a premium package? That would be a dirty trick, but heck I'd probably end up paying for them. I am glad Dish is keeping up with the hd channels, but wish none had been removed to do it.

Yes, you are exactly right! Dish and direc are almost identical now. Before the ''voom massaqre'' Dish was on top of Direc with new additions and voom!

    The real HD Leader!

Direc has more now. Sports packages are almost all in HD plus more movie primiums in HD.

    Otherwise they are the same!!!

Dish 622\722 are what makes the differnce. The HR20s seem to be working much beter since the new software update. No more of that horrible audio dropouts.

However, they are, in my opinnion, clunky and not smooth.

But if you want true HD they both are well, equal. Not much in true 24hr HD since the slaughtering of voom.

Despite E*'s claim of adding all these faux HD channels, without VOOM our net HD veiwing options have actually been reduced. And for those who complained about the VOOM repeat programming, how about all the repeat programming on those so-called HD channels recently added?

Actually, I never really complained about repeat programming since it's a fact of life that there are too many channels and not nearly enough available content available to fill all that air time.
I would watch paint drying if it were in HD, and I had several beers.

Joe Sixpack doesn't actually watch HDTV, he just brags about how many HD channels he gets, how big his tv is, and how much his Monster cables cost.

Do those in your circle have as big a head as you?

What does head size have to do with spending your money wisely and getting home cinema performance to enjoy your HD?

Did you forget a smiley or are you intimidated?
