My 722 got the Turbo-charge yesterday in the a.m. (or early p.m., got home late from work) and I Am Legend 1080p showed up in the guide on 501, however when I tried to order it, it did the screen test and failed me... What gives? My tv is 720p native, however it accepts the 1080p signal from my Xbox 360 Elite no problem, even when I press the info button on my remote it says "HDMI 2, 1080p".
Is Dish using some obscure variant of 1080p or what?
On a side note, the maximum resolution on the 722's HD setup screen is still 1080i. Is there supposed to be a 1080p option there after the Turbo update, or could this be the source of the problem? If not, then will a 1080p movie truly play in 1080p, or will it display in the default resolution of the reciever (1080i, 720p, etc...)?

But does your TV accpet 1080 and 24p? That may be the issue.
From what I have read from Scot's post, there will not be a setting for 1080p. It will just switch to 1080p for this VOD event assuming it verifies it with your TV and then it will switch back when you are done watching it. If it cannot detect a 1080p24 compatible TV it will send as your default resolution so you can still view it.

My Program Guide shows I have been Turbo Charged, but no channel 501 shows up on the guide.... some improper setting?
Thanks for the assistance.

I just saw the posting with the schedule for updating... my 622 probably won't get the info till after 8/11, hence no channel 501.
Sorry for the previous post.

Channel 75, saying you've been turbo-charged, is a "gimmick". It means nothing when it comes down to it. You need the s/w update to be truly turbo-charged.
As I recall, 100,000 622 units will get the update soon and then the week of the 11th, as you say, the rest will get it. If your receiver's "number" isn't in the list of the 100k, there's NOTHING anyone can do to force the update or trick it into updating your machine. Also, tech support can "push" the update to your unique machine either, though they've told customers in the past that they would do this.

It was probably just coincidence, but when I called to complain about my local chans not being in HD just a couple days ago, I also mentioned "Hey, I get this turbo-charged message but my software hasn't been updated, what gives"? The response that I got was that all new Dish customers were getting boxes that were already turbo-charged, everyone else would have to wait for the software to download, even those of us with 722s, and that some people would have to wait until February for the update. I'm not kidding, she said February.
However, within 24 hours my software was updated. Needless to say, I was confused but happy.Philips 42" 1080p LCD - Polaroid 32" 720p LCD - RCA 5.1 surround - WDTV 1080p video player (with 1TB external HD) - Xbox 360 Elite - Toshiba HD-A2 HDDVD player
