External Hard Drive

I just got a ViP 722 upgrade. It has 55hrs (appx) of HD record time. I may need more and am contemplating an external HD option. I realize that there is a $40 charge for that. Is it $40 per HD or its just a $40 authorization for as many HDs you want to use? I only have on receiver at this time (dual view) and if I add a receiver (either leased or owned), do I need another $40 authorization for the second receiver's External HD?
