I think they raised the price from 9.95 to 14.95 a month because they now offer
most of the HBO Channels in HD.

If you get DVR Advantage it includes one dvr fee, your locals and premiums (including HBO) are $10 each. If you have a dvr its silly not to get it. JMHO

HBO hasn't been 9.95 in ages, I think I used to pay $12 just to get HBO 1 and 2 on cable in the mid 90s.
It's been $14.95 for at least a couple of years. Premium HD feeds don't cost DISH anything but bandwidth, and in fact make money for them, because they make the premiums more attractive.
But, as Old Corps pointed out, there are lots of good package deals- especially DVR Advantage- and it's silly to actually PAY $14.95.

Isn't Netflix $8.99/mo? Seems like that gives alot more selection and flexibility.

With flexibility comes responsibility for choosing what you get and making time to watch it.
