Now now boys, calm down.

Anyway, so looks like I get screwed again this year as an AEP + GoldHD + PlatinumHD sub (I think I got that right, so confusing). We had the largest increase last year, and if I'm reading it right, it looks like it's going up $13 this year, too ($3 more for AEP + $10 more for GoldHD).
I've stayed with E* because I really like the equipment, and I have two external HD's (500GB and 750GB) mostly filled. Even so, if there are not new channels that I want immediately available within a month of the price increase, I may have to go to D*.
It would be great if the DTVPal DVR could read the data from the external drives, but that will never happen. I could then switch away from E* and not lose what I've archived. Then again, still waiting on the DVR to arrive.
AEP + GoldHD + PlatinumHD: Pay the most and get the most increase. Does anyone remember when you paid LESS for HD if you had AEP + HD? I believe it was an extra $15 a month instead of $20 a month. Those were the days (it was only 2 years ago).

Wow. Seems like a pretty bad strategy to ask someone for something and insult that person at the same time (referring to the strange comment on the previous page -a few posts popped up before I hit the post reply button).

I'll try Boxee on the ATV and let you know how it looks. Dish is really shooting themselves in the foot this time.
I removed the slingbox from my system too. They are lagging big time too, look at the slingcatcher. What a disgrace.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I mis-interpreted the slide regarding the standalone TurboHD packages. Again, so confusing.
After last year's increase for AEP HD subs, it would be hard to swallow another $10+ increase a year later.
I still want some new channels, though. But hey, big surprise there, huh?

With this %^#^$#$^#& mess Dish is producing I will not be surprised if next year Dish goes into the red. Hey Charlie the tuna the fact of marketing and sales is KISS your consumer
KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID.
This new marketing program does not use the KISS formula thus it will fail.{No more SD} SD should be outlawed--Only HD please!!!

Charlie - stop re-naming the gorram packages and use the capitol that would be saved by not having to change your marketing materials (for the re-named packages) to off-set your rate increases!!!
....jeeze... ...and I'm not even a collage graduate!
