use 622 dvr for OTA
ADVERTS 1
I have a model 622 that I am considering having Dish deactivate as I have 2 presently activated. Does any one know if the 622 will still work for OTA if I deactivate, I would still have it hooked up to the outside dish.
Thanks

You would need to keep it connected to your setup, not sure if it would still work though.

The Guide won't work. There's a lot of discussion on this forum concerning your topic. Search the existing threads to get the highs and lows.

OK, the guide won't work because he won't have the receiver subscribed to the locals. What about just watching OTA and watching recorded shows on the hard drive? I would think that watching shows from the EHD won't work either because of the receiver not being authorized.

the vip 622 has an ota that requires hd to work. If you disable the reciever, then it will not be tied to the hd package (or the hd enabling fee if you dont have hd), and you will just get an error message.
