722: Reboots by itself & Guide not downloading
ADVERTS 1
In the last few days, my 722 has started to randomly reboot. Maybe once a day. QAlso when it reboots, weather by itself or a forced reboot, after checking all 5 sats, it goes directly to reception. It used to download the guide before it went toa picture.
Any ideas?

My 622 was doing the same thing. It was rebooting only about 1-2 times a day untill it crapped out on me and started an endless rebooting loop, I had them give me a 722k as a replacement and I am very much hoping that will fix the issue. Let me tell ya as a side note, that took one very, very long phone call but I did get it done without a charge
. That being said, the guide issue you are having. In my experience The only time the guide will download is when you process a check switch, I could be wrong and If I am someone please correct me.

There is no fix. Please believe me. I needed two 722's to be swapped out within 2 months of each other. 1st 722 worked flawless for a year. Started rebooting more and more often until it was unusable. Replacement 722 started to do the same thing right out of the box. Current 722 is perfect for 4 months now.

I've started downloading all the DVR'd programs that we care about to an external HD just in case it finally goes. It did this a couple of months ago and then stopped doing it.
Is there a way to find out when it rebooted last?

Called up Dish yesterday. CSR told me to unplug the 722 and then press the power button 10 times then plug it back in. So far no reboots.

Pushing the reset button 10 times while the unit is unplugged is like flicking the switch on a flashlight with no batteries in it. You feel like something is being done, but all you did is shorten the life on the switch by an unmeasureable amount.
Unless there is a keep-alive lithium battery on the motherboard and this routine activates some BIOS level function on next power up.

I just talked to advanced tech support because my 622 is just about crapped out with constant reboots. He said that they believe the cause to be improper or no grounding to the coax and dish, and the damage is caused over time.
Lo and behold, i'm not grounded on my (self) install. They're a sending replacement and i'm fixing the ground.
