Can you operate off 129W only?
ADVERTS 1
I do not have a clear shot to 119W on my property. We grab our 119W from our neighbors dish, an ancient LNB on a ?10 year old receiver?
I have a clear shot to 129W. Can I just get an HD box and use it only for 129W? (And flip back to my old box for anything off 119W?)

If you have a DVR you won't get the 9 day extended guide data from 129, but otherwise it would probably work.

but if you got a HD receiver yes you can run it just off 129.
There are folks who have run a HD receiver off 61.5 only
But you could combine the 129 feed and the 119 feed with either a DP34 or a SW21 depending on LNB setup (assuming the 119 LNB is an older Legacy LNB you would need a SW21)Winegard 76cm dish, SG2100 motor, Sadoun dual KU LNB..... what about software updates? i thought only 110 119 61.5 were the only birds that spooled software. once his software is outta date he would loose authorization. or did they start spooling software off of 129 when ciel2 took its place?

software is spooled off all sats....sometimes it takes longer depending on the sat but I'm pretty sure 129 gets software updates
I use to get software upgrades on my unscubscribed 811 that had a line only to 110 (was used for OTA and my locals were on 110 to get guide data)Winegard 76cm dish, SG2100 motor, Sadoun dual KU LNB..... ok, so 129 is good. however, its not all sats. 118.7 does not spool any software. maybe they cant do it off fss?

last I checked they could spool of 118.7
Few folks here have Int'l only so the tech only hooks up 118.7 and save on the DP34Winegard 76cm dish, SG2100 motor, Sadoun dual KU LNB..... Directv Slimline SWM 3 LNB....
