    411?

    ADVERTS 1
Anyone know anything about the 411 receiver? I was on the phone with dish, wanted to swap out my 222 with the 211. The guy mentioned that I could either get the 211 or the 411. Told him I'd rather get the 211 cause I don't know anything about the 411.

The 211 is essentially a newer version of the 411. The 211 can be made into a DVR with an external hard drive, but the 411 can't. There are probably some other minor differences.

They're identical except the 411 has no network port, hence it's not a VIP receiver. But it is an mpeg4 receiver, and others have reported getting it upgraded to DVR with an external disk.

That is not true ... that was the case and sold to the reps that way but all my receivers (including a 411) are now DVRs with the external drives

Little correction - 411 was the ORIGINAL model and FW for both is the same; it have in DVR logs same ID: 411 for both. SO both could be DVR.
One difference is network port [Ethernet]: ViP211 have it, 411- not.

Sorry about that, I was going from memory, and was obviously missing a bit or two.
