Let's petition DISH to change initial recording.

Hello,
I think we should have DISH make it so that you go to the guide and make the DVR similar to DirecTV Press the record button once for a show then twice for a series. Setting the options ALL the time is the one thing I think could use some work.
What do you guys think?

Dish's DVR works great for me. If there were things I would implore Dish to change, your suggestion would likely be at the bottom of the list. I think the Dish DVR is far superior in terms of user interface and ease of use than any I have seen.

We might see this feature in a future software release
on the VIP series receivers. Anything is possible with software.

I don't care anything about this "new" that former D* customers seem to want. It works good as is now, it gives you more choice the way it is now.

Is the OP looking to have Dish get another lawsuit due to copywrite infringement?

Pressing select TWICE does the trick. It automatically selects to record one time only if it is a movie and weeky if it is a series.

For the record. I've never had (or personally used) DirecTV/DVR by DirecTV ever. I know it gives you more choice, but 99% of the time I select it to record only new episodes. Why not just not use it if you don't like it. I mean you have to admit if your in the guide and you want to record a show pressing record once to record it once or twice for all new episodes in the series is easier.

Having both DirecTV HR units and Dish Vip DVR's in my house, it is my personal opinion that Dish should in no way try to copy anything that DirecTV does when it comes to their DVR. Not unless they want to turn the worlds greatest DVR into a POS!

>Loose=not tight, as in: Babette's garter is really loose and she may lose it.
>Lose=don't have it anymore, as in: Babette will lose her garter because it is really loose.
>Could care less=you can actually care less even more than what you do now.
>Couldn't care less=there is absolutely no more caring that can be cared about.
