Others have found it to work in recovering data on EHD.
Thanks Codyc the guide worked perfectly. Just had to spend a little time learning linux, I used Ubuntu to do the trick and did not lose anything. again, many thanks.

Last month, I had one of my EHD suddenly report it needed to be reformatted. I checked it on my other DVR's and had the same result. But all my other EHD (I currenly use 6 with my DVR's) continued to work. Did a check out of the disk with the vendors' tools from my PC and it showed no problem even with a complete check of all sectors. It included a basic version of FSCK. So obviously some sort of data corruption had occurred. Be nice if DISH had some better tool to try and recover a disk, but probably will not happen. Ended up letting it reformat disk.

Perhaps I'll try the mentioned version of FSCK next time.
