As of 11-26-09, DISH currently offers the following channels in HD that Directv does not:

BETJ
FASHION TV
HALLMARK MOVIE CHANNEL
LIFETIME
LIFETIME MOVIE NETWORK
LOGO
MAVTV
MSNBC
TRAVEL CHANNEL
WGN AMERICA
WORLD FISHING NETWORK
ENCORE EAST

Directv has the following that DISH does not:

FUEL TV
MLB
SMITHSONIAN
SHOWTIME WEST
SHOWTIME EXTREME

Doesn't Dish have quite a bit of movie channels in HD that Directv does not?

Thank you Don Landis for saying so eloquently what I have been feeling for so long. The only thing I miss on E* is MLB. That is not enough reason to make me move over to D*. The greediness of MLB is the reason they will not get my few dollars. Just give me movies and I am happy. How can anybody watch all the channels they already get? I am retired and don't have enough time.

And I would care about the MLB channel if they would at least show as many games as ESPN does weekly. Showing a couple games a week is not a good showing for the official network for the sport.

Last Time I checked Fios and Cable companys are still using 20 Hours DVRs.
Uverse , I'm not even sure if you can watch 2 or 3 HD channels in the same house at once. Sorry I'll take D* over Fios /Cable any day.

My brother in law has uverse, sounds like HD DVR space is small

And cable....why people who have HD have cable is hard to understand, at least the HD offerings in Michigan

Happy that is seems for the past three months or so Dish has gained some momentum, A few years ago if you would have asked me if I would ever leave Direct, I would have given you a strange look! Now I am glad I have made the switch!

That is what I meant by Premium movie channels:Hbo/Cinemax/Starz/Showtime/Encore/The movie channel.
