TiVo Sued: A Taste of Their Own Medicine
ADVERTS 1
Well, well, it's TiVo's turn to be defendant:
Microsoft Sues TiVo Over Two Video Content Patents (Update1) - Bloomberg.com
What's good for the goose . . . ? No one may ever know if Dish truly is infringing upon TiVo's patents, but we do know that the jury's logic and reasoning used to arrive at their conclusion have nothing to do with the disputed code or software and have everything to do with TiVo intentionally leaving a TiVo box at Echostar/Dish and never asking about it ever again (for being so protective of its patents, why oh why would they ever be so neglectful of their precious box full of patented technology?
) and the Dish 7000's failure--with software by Microsoft, followed by the successful 501.
Microsoft: You GO GIRL!
Boo hoo, the little TiVo logo

The Dishplayer was the first DVR I ever used, actually was really impressed by it. Was based on the Microsoft Ultimate TV platform, very nice GUI. Ultimate TV, TiVo and ReplayTV were the three earliest DVR platforms. How time has changed.
But TiVo is still in court fight with DISH on the DVR issue, DirecTV had agreed to offer TiVo, then bought ReplayTV and started to ditch TiVo, now Microsoft is back at it with TiVo. How time has passed by but things never change
The fact in this forum where most DISH subs visit, no one cared about this news, does show how things have changed too. TiVo has gone so out of everyday limelight few even pay any attention to them anymore. TiVo used to be a household name, I feel bad for them.

I can never understand why E didnt just buy TIVO to elminate the hassles.
Called a old friend today a long term TIVO user, he has 3 and is still mad at tivo over his high def boxes bugs.
He reports the rep said look how long its been since you paid anything.. He has lifetime on all his tivos
Shopping to repace E is very interesting.

Man with Tivo being a bit cash strapped what's it gonna do to them w/ moneybags MS going to town on them in court. MS's lawyers are gonna hurt you Tivo.

Well its pretty logical, Microsoft knows Tivo has money because they got it from Echostar.

Maybe once Microsoft sues the sh*t out of Tivo , there will be no more problems for old Charlie. I say what goes around comes around Tivo.
