The $5.00 was never a charge ,it was a savings. If connected to phone line you saved the 5 bucks,if not they treated tv 2 as if it was a room with its own receiver.

Yes.
Everyone is getting charged $5 now. Only existing customers with a phone line connected get a $5 credit until July. Then everyone gets to pay $5 - phone or no phone line.
Before they rewarded you for having the phone line connected.
Now, they are not punishing you for not having a phone line connected, they are just not rewarding people who do.

6 of one, half dozen of the other.
This reminds me of when grocery stores raise their prices and then discount the price for those that have a card. They then tell you you saved x amount of money. In reality you did not save any money. This would be the normal price if they did not have that stupid club card to begin with

You explained it perfectly execpt for one thing. Everyones price on 2nd dual tuners is not going to go up $5 making the total $10. 2nd dual tuners will be $14 making your increase $9 a month.
There will be no more $10 charge for 2nd dual tuners only $14. and $17 for 2nd dual DVR's.

Good to know. Now it seems easier to 'add' another receiver in another 'room' **COUGH**another house**COUGH**.
Keep increasing the fees and more customers will be willing to find their own way of keeping the price down.

I'm generally fairly bright, but this confuses me. Will people with only one dual-tuner receiver see a $5 increase if they don't have their receiver connected to a phone line? One month a couple of years ago, I disconnected the phone line for about 10 days from the receiver, and dish charged me $5. I thought from reading the new receiver fee thread that I understood how the receiver fee pricing would work. I thought with just one DVR receiver that I'd be charged $6 above my programming package. Is that only true till July, and then it will be $11?
