WOW! That's awesome. I'll ask that question in chat with DISH in a bit. THANKS!!

The 1000+ dish will require 4 lines from the dish to a DPP44 switch. Then from there you will only need one line to each receiver. One other thing to keep in mind is that if you are planning on having 6 solo receivers (3 leased & 3 owned) you will also need to purchases an additional DPP44 switch to run the last 2 receivers.

I was surprised that there really aren't any stations available to the public or in my market that aren't viewable with the 1000 + dish. Initially, I was really hoping for a two dish install (like a 1000+ and a 1000.4) so I would have access to as many satellites as possible so if there's a satellite failure or an HD situation like there is now, that I'd potentially already have access to the satellite that has those stations.
you wouldnt get both of those dishes. The "best" scenerio is here in Minneapolis (or any market with locals on EA). New customers with a Int'l get a 1000.4 (Eastern Arc) dish and a D500+ with the connection for 118.7 only used. IIRC they dont even put the 110 LNB on the D500+

so here in Mpls its a EA and a partial D500+ dish (partial as in 119/118.7 only)

I COMPLETELY understand. Yeah, after looking at what each sat had and was duplicated on others, I did see that the Minneapolis scenario would have been great!

I am playing with paying the installer to install another dish I provide (probably a 1000.4 if I was going to). That would open up the possibility to "move" to Minneapolis as well.

As the DPP64 appears to have been vapor ware (from what I've read anyways), I would assume that I could only have 4 LNBs hooked up at one time. I realize that at this time, there would be no need to see more then 4 either. But I could easily swap out one lnb for another should a situation arise (like the current new HDs n/a), right?

I may buy my extra 211's from Dish so they have to provide the extra switch and do any more runs I may want them to do.

Can you tell I don't want to mess with anything on my roof in the future!

    Thanks again for your help!

    Jason

Minneapolis HD is on 129 also so if they installed a D1000+ you can always move to Mpls and be covered already

technically you can get 5 sats if you use a DPP44+ switch. You would put a DP21 switch on each output of the 44 to get 5 sats. Int'l installs that are not EA get a DPP44+ switch. You can feasibly run 8 receivers (4 dual tuner) off the 44 switch

why? That seems to be the best part...oh wait thats the FTA guy kicking in on me

    1. Very true

    2. Oh yeah....very good point. And DP21's aren't expensive either. Is there a limit to how many sats current receivers can see??

    3. I already have a FTA PC tuner I bought a couple of years ago. That is my next project for the summer. Screwing with dishes to get stuff for free = FUN. Screwing with DISH network dishes that I'm paying good money for = NOT FUN.

I currently have an old DirecTV dish, an old DISH 500 dish (which I think has a bad LNB), a VOOM dish (I miss VOOM!), and a larger dish I had used with DirecTV. They are mounted on universal mounts that means I never have to screw into my roof, even if I have to change masts (except for maybe support arms). So, I will have 4 dishes on my roof. Whatever locations aren't for dish will be for FTA. Gee, I wonder if I should ask him if he'll point the larger dish and the voom dish for me for FTA while he's up there. hmmmmmmm.....more to ponder.

you wont get really anything for free on those smaller dishes for FTA. Only unencrypted channel on Dish is Dish 101. Use to also be Nasa, Angel One and Ion but those got scrambled recently. Need a 30"-36" dish for free to air

The VOOM dish I have was the largest they offered, but I don't remember the size, I want to say somewhere between 26-30. That other dish I have that I was using for directv (wasn't their dish) was a round 30". Yeah, I know the old 18" ones are useless. Thanks!

The 101 isn't scrambled, eh? hmmm My fiance would have made me do anything to get that if they still had Passions.

Well, I think I know my plan of attack. Time to find the cheapest international package (or ala carte if available).

    Thanks again Iceberg!

Dish 101 is different than Directv 101

Dish 101 is just how to read your bill, use the remote, etc. A help channel
