New cust, what packages to order to get Multiple Dishes/Most Satellite installed free
ADVERTS 1
Hello,
I'm will be a new DISH customer VERY soon. I qualify as a NEW customer (confirmed earlier this evening).
Anyways, I love to ocassionally pick up different forgein and what have you packages. I'd live to get the most out of my "FREE INSTALL".
I am DMA #154: Rochester / Austin, MN & Mason City, IA
I was wondering, what I need to order at signup to have the most satellites being reachable at install. I don't care if there are two....even three dishes that need to be installed (though 2 is what I was thinking).
My equipment will be 6 211/211k with EHD. 3 leased, 3 owned
What is seen as the most likely ideal or must have satellite locations to have access to in the next couple years.
If given a choice, what are the 2 dishes I should shoot for getting? Either for what they get now, or what they may be able to get with new sat launches.
DISH 1000 PLUS and DISH 1000.4???? (is 1000 PLUS still availble) Grasping at straws a bit here.
Any SWITCHES I should insist upon or try to get??
*** Thank you SOOOOO much! I'm trying to research it myself, but I like to check with the EXPERTS! ***

you would get a D1000+ and that is all that is needed for your market. It sees 4 slots
110-English programming
119-English programming
118.7-international programming
129-HD
Since Rochester/Austin/Albert Lea/Mason City DMA is not in HD and the SD channels are on 110 you would get a western arc dish. Eastern Arc is only used if the locals are in HD like they are in Minneapolis.
All new installs for International channels get the 118.7 dishWinegard 76cm dish, SG2100 motor, Sadoun dual KU LNB..... Directv Slimline SWM 3 LNB.... GeoSatPro 36" dish with Sadoun dual KU LNB... Coolsat 5000 on motorized.... Manhattan RS1933....Directv HR34 (yes the 5 tuner monster) GeoSatPro 200 to aim dishes.... few receivers not set up yet

You say "I would get"....do you mean to say I would get it IF I subscribe to a foreign channel package at the time of install....otherwise wouldn't I get a 1000.2?
Just checking. I will check into it myself, but do you have a suggestion for the cheapest package that get me that 1000+ instead of a 1000.2?
Is my assumption correct as well that the upgrade would be free if done at the time of hook up as a new subsciber?
Thanks again. It's appreciated.

Questions about the 1000+ vs. the 1000.2
I have just a few questions about the 1000+ vs. the 1000.2.
1. Will the 1000+ have all of the most current technology available? Will it have the best LNB's and will it be able to be installed using only one cable from the dish to the receiver?
2. Since it is a bit larger will it get better signal strength on all the satellites?
3. Since it is larger are there stability issues? Would extra support bars be needed in the installation?Last edited by Lt Disher; 02-27-2010 at 03:21 PM.

I dont know. I do not have any international channelsJust checking. I will check into it myself, but do you have a suggestion for the cheapest package that get me that 1000+ instead of a 1000.2?
If you have both HD & a International channel ordered at setup they will bring you a D1000+Is my assumption correct as well that the upgrade would be free if done at the time of hook up as a new subsciber?Winegard 76cm dish, SG2100 motor, Sadoun dual KU LNB..... Unless you want international programming (most a-la-carte) you don't need the 1000+ and it would be definite overkill because all regular HD programming comes off the 110/129 satellites for western arc applications.
If you do subscribe to international programming and HD, you should automatically get the 1000+ with a DPP44 switch free with the install.

Since the OP indicated enjoying international programming from time to time, it makes sense to initially sub to some sort of package that will get him 118.7 off the bat. He can always drop the package after install, but in the future if he wants to add a different international pack he won't have to have a tech out to swap out hardware.
IMHO, a $5 programming downgrade fee will be worth avoiding the hassel of a future install visit.**Dish: One step forward, a half dozen steps back...

Thanks for having my back there! I thought it made sense too.
I was surprised that there really aren't any stations available to the public or in my market that aren't viewable with the 1000 + dish. Initially, I was really hoping for a two dish install (like a 1000+ and a 1000.4) so I would have access to as many satellites as possible so if there's a satellite failure or an HD situation like there is now, that I'd potentially already have access to the satellite that has those stations.

You may be able to order Euronews for $1.99/mo. which is on the 118.7 satellite requiring the 1000+ dish. I just searched the Dish Network website, and I couldn't find EuroNews available a-la-carte, but I have seen it in the past. You may have to request that channel specifically when ordering.
