I'm not sure which is worse...

    ADVERTS 1
I was reading the other post, "whats the purpose of dual receivers" and found it interesting and a good read.

So it got me curious and I logged in to see what my new bill was going to be.

    Heres my setup.

    2 322s
    1 510

    America Top 250 62.99
    Solo Receiver 7.00
    Duo Receiver 14.00
    TV2 Connection 5.00

Oh look, they increased the price of the Duo and Solo receivers as everyone said. However, Why am I being charged a TV2 connection when my 5$ box went to $14.00?

So now as I see it, I just got nailed with a $16.00 increase in my bill. Before it was 62.99 + 5.0 + 5.00.

However, something I did notice, I was no longer being charged the $5.00 connection fee (phone port took a surge) on my 3rd receiver.

My question. Is the TV2 connection for the second port on the first box? Or is it for 2nd port on the Duo Receiver?

If the TV2 fee is for the first box, i'm only gonna save 7$ buy dropping the dvr and switching out duo box. I really dont need the 5th connection anymore.

    Ugh...

to m y knowledge the tv2 connection fee has nothing to do with a tv2 being connected, and everything to do with whether or not you have a phone line connected- to your dual tuners.
phone port took a surge? on the receiver? if so , have them replace it. if you mean your wired phonejack, fixing it will be worth it, saving $60 a year.

As of 2/1, Duo receivers are $14 regardless of SD or HD.

Also, after 2/1, no one should be charged a $5.00 connection fee for no phone line connection or no broadband connection. The TV2 connection fee from my understanding was from not having 2+ boxes connected to a phone line before 2/1. In contrast, if one box was connected to a phone line before 2/1, there was no charge and no receiver credit for six months. In addition,if more than one box was connected to a phone line before 2/1, there is a receiver credit of $5.00 per box (after the primary receiver) for the first six months after 2/1. Apparently, E* uses their discretion on whether a customer before 2/1 gets charged the TV2 connection fee.

It is rather confusing. I may be wrong, but that is how I understand it. Some say you can resolve the problem of the TV2 connection fee by complaining to a CSR, and some say that you can resolve the problem of the TV2 connection fee by going to paperless billing and auto pay.

    I hope this helps.

TV2 fee is a valid charge for multiple Duo receiver subs if you had zero receivers connected to phone or ethernet prior to Feb. 1.

Now it is only charged once - not per receiver.

but should still be able to be 'fixed' by just plugging in the phone line...

This is the common understanding, but some people have had a difficult time getting it removed. You may have to have start paperless billing and autopay for the CSR to actually get it removed. In some instances it is not automatically removed. You can sign up for paperless billing and autopay, get the $5 TV2 charge removed and then go back to paper billing and remove the autopay. The $5 TV2 charge should not reappear.

This is a crazy nuisance to go through, but DISH billing policies are convoluted in some cases to say the least.

It is probably not a policy at all, but a messed up billing system. They probably have a billing system nightmare anytime they change anything and have to change 14 million accounts.
