Yeah, it is... How badly do you want to maintain your stand of: "I like having a stand alone DVR or receiver at each TV." You could always go with a VIP211 and it wouldn't cost you $17.....

If it's your first/only receiver, it's free of monthly charge.

You have two options: a 211 w/EHD @$7/mo (after $40 upgrade fee), or a 612 @$10/mo.

Did you swap them with Dish, or buy them outright? If you swapped them what was the cost and/or commitment with Dish?
