Which LNBs and switches for Dish Locals Only?
ADVERTS
Due to financial constraints and location, I'm trying to access Dish locals only. I have a 322 I would like to use as a single tuner. I have a Dish digital LNBF. The Dish 500 is still installed on my porch roof.
Since I just want locals in DMA Philadelphia, aren't they on sat 110? Do I need a switch? Or can I run the cable directly from the LNBF to the receiver?
Thank you in advance for any ideas or suggestions.

It is not wise to run a dual tuner receiver with only one input being use. It causes many receiver problems. What lnb's are you using?

should be on 110. and it really depends on what kind of digital lnb you have. the real issue is whether or not dish will allow you to subscribe to locals only. if not, you may as well just install it correctly.

It will work as long as you own the 322 outright. Most were leased.

I'm a female. Not very technical. Dish may not allow locals only. I do want to understand the process if not for anything than to learn something.
Hypothetically, the locals are on 110. The Dish Network Digital LNBF LNB Dual Output is for one sat but can go to 2 single receivers or 1 dual receiver.
Assuming the 322 can be used as a single receiver, you could run cable directly off the dish to the 322. No DP21 or DP34 needed.
You could also use the 322 as a dual receiver by back feeding to a second tv set. Then would you need a DP21 or DP34?
And yes I own the 322.
Thank you again for your responses.

If your going to use both outputs TV1 and TV2 from the 322 for viewing then you need to run two lines from the Dish to the receiver inputs if its a regular DP Twin. Then just point it where it needs to go. If the dish has a Dish Pro Plus Twin on the 500 then you can just run a single line and at that point you would need a separator for it. And I do believe you can sign up for Dish Locals only.

An LNBF without a DP (or the word DishPro) or DPP (or DP+ or the words DishPro Plus) on it is a legacy LNBF. Just run two lines from it to your receiver. A DPP LNBF can feed a dual tuner receiver with one line using a DPP separator at the receiver.
