Superdish - Direction for Indian channels (zee tv, sony tv)
ADVERTS 1
What is the satellite location for Indian channels showing zee tv, sony tv for Superdish? How can I get the elevation and azimuth? Dishnetwork guys are not very helpful. My zip code is 15234. These channels are also broadcast from Dish 500 pointing South East but because of trees I could not get the direction.
Thanks

- 02-12-2005 05:17 PM #2Zee TV and Sony TV are on the wings (61.5 and 148) as well as 121. They are not "broadcast" from DISH500 because a DISH500 is a dish, not a satellite. You will need a SuperDISH 121 (there is more than one version of the SuperDISH) to receive programming from 121. You will need either a DISH300 or a DISH500 to receiver programming from 61.5 or 148.

I don't have receiver yet so I cannot do on-screen guide.
I had dishnetwork guy come to install the Superdish and he told me one of the three satellite is not able to pick up these Indian channels. He went to roof to see the direction. But I wanted to try this my self. I may be able to pick up direction from SW from the front yard. I went to this site
http://www.monsterfm.com/engineering/pointdish.htm
to get direction for 121W but this satellite is not listed.
I also had Directv guy came to install different Indian channels but no luck there too since 95W is more close to South. My problem is I have too many tall trees facing south. the only clear line of sight is towards more West or East. Is there any satellite which has more azimuth angle like more than 250?
You said 148 is also showing zee, sony TV? This is more west so may be I can pick up the direction from there. I called dishnetwork but the operator didn't have any information about 148.
Are you sure I can pick up zee, sony TV from 148? If so which dish I need to get 300, 500 or superdish?

Here's the AZ/EL numbers for zip 15234:
61.5 = 161/40
110 = 230/34
119 = 239/29
148 = 263/8 (Elevation of 8 is not normally usable - WAY too low).
121 should be around 241/28.

Thanks for your information.
I may be able to get direction from 121 but not from other satellites located east of 121. Is it ok if superdish will not be able to pick up signals from all the 3 satellite locations? I only need to get international programming, regional channels I can get it from the local cable.
If I need to find the correct location for superdish without first installing dish what tools do I need to buy like compass etc.?

I got my Super Dish installed one week ago for my local channels. I also have Zee TV, TV Asia, Sony, and B4U all coming off sat 121 with my HD channels. I'm In Florida here.
