    510 work after deactivation?

    ADVERTS 1
I'm going to be deactivating my 510 unit soon but would like to, after the fact, watch some of the shows I have recorded on it.

I think I should be able to do this, but thought I would ask you all.

I'm going to be unplugging the unit and switching it to another TV to watch the previously recorded shows. When the 510 goes in to its start-up menus, and can't find any satellites, will I still be able to watch the previously recorded shows? I'm just worried that it won't read any satellites and then will lock me out of viewing what's already on the hard drive.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

It will work, as long as you disconnect the 510 from the satellite cable BEFORE you call to disco it. You just skip past the startup menu by hitting the DVR button on the remote & all your shows should be there.
Obviously, if you then reconnect it back to the dish, it will eventually shut the whole thing down.

On two occasions I've had units stop working after a few months (PVR events disappeared). Some people have suggested that this may be a function of the new yellow cards.

(though I can't imagine how a 501 could know how long it's been unplugged for - both were disconnected from the Sat before calling to deactivate)
