After my D* CSR fiasco, I checked out Dish.

    ADVERTS 1
Just to help my blood pressure return to normal, after my CSR fiasco documented in a post last week on the DirecTV forum, I got on the web and the phone with DISH to see what it would cost me to exactly replace my D* hardware and services with DISH. I have one HD receiver and 2 DS receivers, subscribe to Total Choice +, HBO, HD package, all the locals in SD, waiting on locals in HD, and NFL Sunday ticket.

So for DISH the cost for install is $49, but they waived that.
Cost for one new HD receiver and 2 SD receivers $0.
Cost for 120 channels, plus HBO $76.
    Cost for HD is $9.

So bottom line, Dish makes a switch nearly cost free. What is missing?

    Well no Sunday Ticket.
Got to get waivers AGAIN for DISH.

The Sunday ticket isn't a great loss since I will never pay the $99 for HD NFL on top of the $200+ I pay for SD. May cancel it anyway since all I'll get is SD.

Waivers is a pain, pure and simple.

Has anyone made the switch to Dish from D*, if so was it just as irritating as D* has become? Better than D*? Worse?

Enjoy all the headaches with OTA on your 811, I believe NFL Sunday ticket is non refundable. Good Luck.

What headaches? The only thing that bothers me is no program guide for the local OTA channels.

Depending on where you live but most likely they have local channels. Go to their website and do a search.
