ADVERTS
You are probably right! But when they ask to turn on a particular channel, it is not identified by satellite location. So, perhaps having an approval for 9484 on the books will cause it to come alive as soon as it is officially active on 129?

Proud Staff MemberSorry my post was not clear as when I thought it was when I typed it at 3am
I was trying to say CBS-E was duplicated on 61.5 for the time being, however it seems the west coast HD locals will move to 129 when they launch (maybe in the next month or so??). For that reason, I doubt they will remove CBS-W at 148, however the old CBS-E at 61.5 (that shares a TP with the demo channel) has no reason to exist once they launch the big4 HD locals. They might free up a TP there by removing the HD demo channel. Unless someone really likes that fish tank

If the HD PPV channel is always around 12 mbs, then I am NEVER going to pop for one of those movies.
$6 for 2 hours of HD-lite???
No way!
- 12-12-2005 02:12 PM #404Now I am getting confused. I think they will need to continue to support CBS-HD East on 61.5, because parts of the East Coast cannot see the 129 bird. However, I think they will move CBS-HD West off of 148 once enough folks in the West install Dish1000s so that they can see 129. Make sense??

1. East coast HD locals are testing on 61.5. West coast HD locals are testing on 129. These will launch soon. The big four are up, ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX.
2. Dish has always had CBS-E HD and CBS-W HD. These have been up for many years at 61.5 and 148 respectively.
3. There is no need for the old CBS-E HD at 61.5 when the "new" east coast HD locals launch, since these are uplinked as TWO separate video feeds on the same satellite. Thus my reasoning for them to remove the OLD CBS-E, and possibly remove the HD demo channel to free up a TP at 61.5 for voom or something else.
4. Local HD channels will not appear at the 110 slot until after h.264 (mpeg4) and E10 launch.
Hope this clears it up

Proud Staff MemberHD Demo channel is on 61.5 and 148. Everyone who has a dish pointed at one of those locations and a HD receiver can view this channel.

Remember, in E*s mind, 129 is not available for subscribers north of Maryland on the East coast because of the low angle.
