Great Site But Now Really Confused

    ADVERTS 1
Boy, You people know some stuff! And after hours of monitering this site I even understand a little of it. Just bought a Sammy HP-S4253 and called dish to order HD. Here is the confusion. With the infor on Super dish, Dish 1000 etc. I am concerned that I get the right dish. Dish says they want to put two dishes on my roof which I am not wild about. I live near St. Louis and will soon have LocalHD and want to be sure I am getting what I need. I was thinking of starting with Platnum service and if I am going to pay that much I don't want to learn six months from now I can't get all the programing. I'm pretty much a plug and play kinda guy. So is two dishes correct or should I insist on something else.

I've had SD Dish for nearly 4 years. Service has been great only one prolonged outage. Will end up with two SD recievers and 2 HDs.

    Thanks

If Im not mistaken all you should need is one Dish like the 1000 since your in the Midwest. The 1000 will hit all 3 Sats that you will need to get your programing plus your Local HDs.

Hold off for a couple weeks

St Louis LIL HD is on the new 118.7 (119K) so you would need a Dish1000+ which will get

    119
    119K
    129

    110/119 has normal programming
    129 has Nat’l HD
119K will have St Louis HD LIL
Winegard 76cm dish, SG2100 motor, Sadoun dual KU LNB..... Directv Slimline SWM 3 LNB.... GeoSatPro 36" dish with Sadoun dual KU LNB... Coolsat 5000 on motorized.... Manhattan RS1933....Directv HR34 (yes the 5 tuner monster) GeoSatPro 200 to aim dishes.... few receivers not set up yet

So the K would indicate "K band"?

From geosynch orbit isn't that .25 degrees essentially zero? Maybe a distance of an inch or so?

Damn, now I'm doing the math and the satellites are spread by about 55 miles in space...

That's "a lot" but not when it's up there about 25K miles

    Cheers,
