Distant Network Shutoff on December 1st?

The CBS HD is not a distant network. Its classified as a Special Feed from CBS to CBS viewers in CBS O&O Areas.

the cbs hd feeds on dish arent considered dns i think so those should stay as scott g said before

Yes, but I live in LA and I'm getting WCBS-DT off of 61.5. Will WCBS-DT be replaced with KCBS-DT since I live in an O&O DMA?

No it will not, if you want KCBS you need a dish pointed at 148.

Great! So to be clear, assuming my NY SD Distants go away on 12/1 and I subscribe to my LA locals (HD and SD via 129), I'll still get WCBS-DT if I keep one dish pointed at 61.5?

Thats correct WCBS / KCBS in HD are not going away.

Canada is an awful example. There is no local coverage anymore unless you live in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton, or Vancouver.
If you live more than an hour outside of one of those cities, forget about anything local.

This had nothing to do with settlements! E* got penalized because they ignored the courts ruling/order from several years ago that they stop giving DNS to subs who were not eligible under the law. The law specifies that the penalty for doing so is shut off of all DNS even for those who can legally receive them. No latitude in the penalty as the law is written.
