Learning Remote with 622

I have a sony VL600 learning remote that I purchased to work with my Olevia TV and my Dish 622. I can learn fine with the TV, but it won't pick up any signals fro the 622. Does the 622 6.2 remote emit IR signals as well as UHF? If not is there any way to put it into IR only mode?
