Umm, how much of the content on those channels is actually HD or even widescreen for that matter? FX, Speed, MoreMax, etc. from previous promised channel lists are well worth the bandwidth they'll consume since they air a good amount of HD programming. These announced Viacom channels do nothing for me or many other people based on the feedback I'm seeing here.
Why not tell Viacom to go screw with their fake HD channels so the channels people actually want can be picked up instead? DIRECTV at least seems to be able to pick and choose the channels they want from Viacom. Ugh. Just more upscaled SD junk to inflate the total number of "HD" channels.

the comment about AMC being mostly classic movies not is HD just shows how little Charlie knows about what is shown on the different networks. All movies after the early 50s can be shown in HD and really improves the quality even the 4x3 formats.

Not only that, but AMC hasn't been "mostly classic movies" for a long while now. They switched from a commercial-free channel airing mostly older films to an ad-supported channel so they could air lots of newer movies. Hell, AMC has been airing "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" this week, which may not be terribly recent but it's #2 on IMDB's Top 100, so I would think people would like to watch that kind of stuff in the best quality possible. Don't know if AMC was airing it in HD, but an HD transfer has been around for a while so they should have been.
