Glad they chose National Geographic. | Scott,
Why did they have to choose? Was it a matter of bandwidth? And if so, does this mean that there won't be any more new HD channels until they improve the MPEG4 encoding or put a new bird up?

Great news.
Now I need to add Starz! Since there rarely is much I care for in Showtime, maybe I will just switch.
I wish they would also add Food Network HD. I know it would make my wife happy :-)
EDIT:
QUESTION --- will the new stations (other than Starz of course) be included in the standard HD packages? I have Bronze.

It's kind of funny if you go to the avs forum here : http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=679343 there are just as many unhappy DirecTV subscribers as happy Dish subscribers. Good job Dish, keep it coming. |

It's so hard to understand why DirecTV had, what seemed to be, the inside edge on getting HD launched. Then, all of the sudden, Dish comes out kicks Rupert's butt. More content and...a DVR that can actually record the content. How could Dish pull this all together while DirecTV continues to say they'll have 120 chans by the end of the year (a statement we all know is false).
I've got everything I need in HD OTA, but I'd sure like to see a cookie tossed out once in a while (Starz would be nice).
