The transponder switched to 8PSK modulation thereby allowing more bandwidth and better HD for the locals. It has an effect on the results, but is not really a "last" step kind of thing.

Don't say they are going to add a channel until it is flipped to available.

Thanks JohnH. Sorry for the nOOb questions But I'd like to understand these up-link reports better.

I assume that increasing the "symbol rate from 20000 MSPS to 21500 MSPS" is also a good thing for bandwidth/quality. But have no idea what changing the "FEC from 5/6 to 2/3" does.

    Thanks again -- Talon Dancer

Changing the FEC(Forward Error Correction) from 5/6 to 2/3 reduces the available bandwidth but increases noise correction reserve. 8PSK is likely to have more noise problems.

Is there any activity whatsoever on Scifi HD, USA HD, or chiller, or are they still flatlined?

Thanks again. It all sounds pretty promising Now all I need is a dish pointed towards 61.5. And of course, for digiblur's report to show the Austin HD locals are available.

I cant even count how many times Digi has checked this. I wonder if he or someone else can put sumtin together that will autocheck activity on certain uplinks?
