Agree with sundude, TNGTony, juan, and whoever else believes Dish can give everybody (including us mixed-arc folk) these channels. The solution is to put up the channels on 119 rather than 129 and either wait for the E14 shuffle until E14 is actually in orbit, or else do a flash cut. What's so bad about that?

The issue there is if they put them on 119 then people will expect them to remain there. You would be surprised how many people only get 110/119 and not 129 or 61.5. When they got the issues fixed at 61.5 and removed the channels off of 119 there would be massive complaints.
This one is a damned if they do, damned if t hey dont thing.
They have contracts to get these channels up and so they are getting them up. Many people will be able to see them, while many others will not.
This was not a "well let's see if we can get them to buy a new Dish." decission, it is how do we get these channels up when we have contracts. A few weeks ago they didn't expect the failures they had on 61.5 causing them to have to rethink on how to launch them.
Putting these channels is not what Dish Network wants to do eaither. They want as many people to see them as possible as more HD sells more service.
I am not happy about whats going on, but at the same time I also understand.Scott

Do we know what packages all of these are going in??

What they're doing to 61.5 customers is absolute BS. It's an amateur move by an enormous company. It's almost unbelievable.......
A satellite failure is a mitigating factor that could get them out of any breach scenario if the channels aren't launched by the date in the contract. I doubt that it would even come to that as the content providers are not going to waste their time, money, and "goodwill" with E* by pursuing legal remedies over a minor delay that resulted from a tech failure over which E* had no control.
* I am NOT a 61.5 customer.Last edited by Skyhi; 02-10-2010 at 09:37 AM.

Agree with you 100%
The wing dish customers are some of the first and longest HD customers that E* has. Don't forget that people! Again E* wishes to give New customers everything they want, and screw the customers that made HD with E* what it is today.
Its BS that I have to pay $15 and wait for a technition to install a Dish that all new customers had for the past year +.
If I didn't visit satellite guys , I would have just been another blind E* sucker that paid the same as all the 129 customers but got less HD.

So let me get this straight. According to what you know, Dish's choices were to put these channels on 110/119 so that people who are supposed to get them could at the cost of surprising people who wouldn't be getting them anyway, and not putting them on 110/119, depriving people who are paying to get those channels from seeing them.
Doesn't seem like a rock and a hard place to me. It sounds like Dish felt that avoiding whatever inconvenience was involved in putting the channels up on 110/119 and then switching them to 61.5 was worth pi**ing off its customer base.
On another point, if they had to, by contract, get the channels up by this date that's one thing; otherwise, and assuming they actually have plans to enable people with 61.5 to get these channels within a reasonable time frame, what would be the big deal in delaying the launch until everyone had access? I mean, it's not as if Dish has shown any concern in the past for subscribers who have clamored for new national HD.
Hey, they'll do what they want to do but it certainly seems from what you said above that they could have traded some convenience for the sake of not enraging customers.Last edited by nlk10010; 02-10-2010 at 09:40 AM.
