    2 DVR's at sign up?

    ADVERTS 1
Will either DTV or E* give you 2 free HD DVR's at sign up? I think someone said dish would but I can't locate any deals like that.

I've had a difficult time making up my mind on which sat provider to go with, but I'm gonna put myself out of my misery within a few days.

godish dot com has a good deal but don't offer 2 free HD DVR's. I also noticed an HR21 at BB for $160. Anything wrong with me buying it myself if I go DTV?

Nothing wrong with going to Best Buy but just remember that you are not buying the receiver. The $160 is for the opportunity to lease the receiver from Directv.

Both companies charge for a second DVR... however Dish DVRs have the ability to service 2 rooms for no extra charge.

If you absolutely want two seperate DVR receivers, I highly recommend leasing and just paying the "Upgrade Fee" for the second receiver.... I really don't see any point in purchasing receivers... with a lease, you get a much better warranty so when that hard drive fails down the line, it's much easier to get a replacement.

To clarify, only one room will be HD, the other will be SD, but yes, you can feed to seperate tvs with the 622/722

And if both TV's are being used you can not record another program except the ones being watched.

Or you can watch programs that have already been recorded. I don't ever watch Live TV anymore

    Here's another thing.

There are trees to the South of my house. Does this make a case for D* over E*? I have heard D*sats are at higher elevation than E*. I plan on watching both HD and SD programing.

That is to tough to tell without seeing the location. If this might be an issue you could always find a local installer and have them come out to do a survey.

In 2006, Dish allowed me to sign up with 2 HD DVRs after a bit of begging.

When signing up for DirecTV this year, D* absolutely refused my request for a second HD DVR, telling me to request another "after 6 months of paying my bill on time." I "bought" my 2nd at Costco.

They refused to let you get one? Or refused to give a discount on the second? I have never heard of D* flat out refusing you to get another.
