Verizon has 70 premium movie channels in HD, why don't we?

    ADVERTS 1
Verizon FiOS has every single premium movie that exists in HD, 70 of them! every spinoff, every west coast feed, everything! Why can't DirecTV match that? for what they charge for them we should have at least 80! enough of the stupid sports packages! does anyone actually subscribe to Cricket Ticket? give me more movies! get rid of pay per view movies on regular channels too! total waste of bandwidth! If this keeps up I'll switch to FiOS if they ever get here.

Good point regarding FIOS. If DTV didn't have the NFL Sunday Tkt pkg locked up until the end of the 2010 NFL season, I would have looked hard at FIOS TV as I have FIOS 'net and phone svc at present.

Speaking of sports It's my take that DTV offers the best sports pkgs of the providers. I'm referring to the availability of pro sports pks in general, MLB, NHL, NFL, etc. I'm not sure about the individual sports channels that are in DTV's "sports" pk, ie Golf Channel, etc. Perhaps other providers offer better deals for the $ with those pks.

I'm signed up for the 2-yr DTV HD/DVR service so by the end of NFL business '10, I'll look closely about switching providers.

Do the other providers also charge an "HD Access" fee, ie Dish? That additional fee bugs me, for some reason. I guess I believe that I shouldn't be charged an additional fee as I already bought the HD/DVR upgrade.

HD access fees don't bother me, as long as they don't charge extra for locals like E* does.

sports are boring. half of the packages arent even in HD either. i'd rather HD watch movies 24 hours a day than pay 300 bucks a year to be able to see football 6 hours a day 17 days out of the year. theres no comparison! if you want to see a certain team save yourself the money and move to their market.

I have dropped the premium movie packages since Directv doesn't add more channels like they promised.
WGN, Travel Channel and ESPNU should be HD and ESPNU should be in the ESPN tier...
Check out Charter cable and see what happened when they didn't add channels...

Charter isnt available here. Comcast won't allow it due to their anti-competitive, monopolistic modus operandi. its the other way around in the next town over though.

I'm curious how you come up with 70 HD premium channels. When I count (including ones that aren't normally considered premium channels) I only get 47 which still blows D* away and D* should be ashamed of themselves. As D* customer I am annoyed at D*'s lacked of HD premium movie channels.

    Here they are:

    842 Starz Edge HD
845 Starz Kids & Family HD

it said 70 on the Fios wikisite. i guess someone miscounted. or they counted the basic cable channels that occassionally show movies like Spike, TBS, USA, FX, TNT, Disney. but its still way more than D* and yes D* should be ashamed of themselves.

Fuzzy and misleading numbers from a TV provider? Shocking!!!!

But yes it is way more than D* and they suck in this department.

ya well D* does it too. 130 national HD channels? bullshit! i have 74 HD channels. the other 56 are in sports pack, most of which are regional sports networks whos only HD content is live games, which are blacked out unless you pay even more for a stupid out of market sports package!

I know D* does it. E* does it. Comcast does it. They all do it. That was my point by trying to impart sarcasm into my post. I guess it didn't translate into words.
