Why I hate DISH
ADVERTS 1
no, I don't hate dish, but I do hate their SD programming. I just got 2 directv HD DVRs and love them. DISH's SD programming just had awful video compression, it had worst quality than youtube. true an exageration but not by much. Directv seems to have better video quality, plus their box's software seems to be better, but I don't feel as though it's a fair comparison because I didn't have similar boxes to compare.
on a final note, I don't know if I heard the FiOS commercial right, did they say they have 100% uncompressed tv?

Yes, Dish Network SD is horrible...yes, Dish HD is soft compared to D* and moreso compared to FiOS HD...yes and no, to say is FiOS TV is 100 uncompressed is misleading since all MPEG2/MPEG4 they receive from the programmers is compressed in some form or fashion. However, FiOS TV pretty much passes through 100% of the SD and HD signal being delivered to them by the programmer.

yeah well I guess FiOS is still good because the fewer times you compress it the better.
Can't wait until Comcast advertises uncompressed TV because it's uncompressed by the time it reaches your tv. just like how they offer "fiber optics"

I used to have a dish HD box and a dish SD box, I know it upscales but there's no way upscaling can fix that type of compression
as for directv's SD I used to have it but I don't remember the picture quality

Basically anything we as consumers can view is compressed at some point
