    Dish vs. Direct OTA

    ADVERTS 1
I Hooked up my 20 year old VHF antenna and scanned with my HR20 -700 and my ViP 622... both found the same channels, Dish has the nod on easier to get to in the menu's and scan dtv sigs... I gained CBS HD, whats funny is I took a H20 to the camper and got my ABC HD local but no CBS nor NBC (which trys to come in on my 622) but these are the first HD locals OTA ever ava here...

I only have Direct, so I cannot compare. I can say that it took 2 scans for me to get all of the channels listed on my HR20-100. The first scan not only missed a few channels, but it also listed some of the channels under the wrong channel number. I had three 2-1 listings.

What I did is cleared out all of the OTA info and then did another scan and I was able to get every thing listed that was available.

The Dish Guides only show "Digital Service" while the Directv guides were already populated...I got NBC early this morning and the Today Show wasn't HD...(the Directv guide shows HD)it was off of my Dish HD Local...

It is not really a scan with the HR series though. Not unless they changed something since I set mine up

    REAL PSIP SCANNING MEANS:

    Dish >>>>>> DirecTV

It's not even close, in my mind

D*'s H20's can do channel scans. I don't know if H21s with AM21's added in can do channel scans.

No, the H21/AM21's don't scan, the only H's that scan are the H20's.
