From the standpoint of who got out first, I guess it goes to D*. And the HR34 seems to be mostly a success from reports here and other places. But as with all too many things D*, it is a bit of a disappointment when it comes to speed. Sluggish is very often used to describe the performance. Of course, the new HDGUI, when it gets to the HR34, will cure all of that. Pardon me if I don't exactly believe that since I'm not finding the HDGUI on my HR24s to be much more than a cosmetic change with speed benefits only while actually in the guide.
We can't yet definitively say how good/bad the new Hopper/Joey combo will work for E* since it hasn't actually shipped yet. But given the specs and writings from some here, it appears to me that both the D* and E* customers will/are overall be pleased with these new boxes. Each seems to have some strengths and weaknesses, but nothing I've read is a show stopper, meaning a dud.Lloyd
