I agree. Thats why I have Directv. They carry my RSN in HD and at the time they had MLB Net while Dish didnt
I could care less how many HB Ho's/Skinemax/Show me more time etc channels are in HD...dont watch moveis

One advantage with Dish is the link they have with Blockbuster.

One advantage with Direct is the fact that you do not have to sign up with Blockbuster or some totally unrelated movie package in order to view some of the standalone HD channels such as HDNet and Paladia.

HDNet (Channel 362 on Dish) is included in packages with HD just like DirecTV.

Last time I checked, the HD Extra pack is needed to get Palladia on DirecTV and Blockbuster Movie Pass on Dish.

HDNet is still in the DA packages but Palladia is being moved to the BB Pack only

    per MattG

Palladia, Velocity and HDNet Movies have been removed from the HD packages (including HD free for life, and the $10 HD package), and are now only available as part of the Blockbuster Movie Pass

We recently switched from DirecTV to Dish as part of a special offer from T6 internet. It has been a nightmare from the beginning.

Dish has more HD channels. I'll admit that. But that is the only benefit. Everything else was better with Direct. Direct's receivers are better (program guide looks further ahead, more functionality, more user friendly, etc.).

Additionally, Direct has better customer service. In contrast, Dish tried to quadruple the installation fee. The upstairs receiver still isn't hooked up right and they've sent us 3 different versions. Every customer service person we've talked to tells us something different. It took 3 of us yelling at the latest poor customer service agent in order to get them to agree to send someone out. It goes without saying that we will be switching back to Direct as soon as our 2 years are up.

To anyone who already has Direct and can live without the extra HD channels, I would strongly advise against switching to Dish.

The facts are to do your homework, find out which service fits your needs.I have had both and liked both.I came back to Dish Network because I did my homework and they fit my needs better for me.

    That's it in a nutshell.

Also remember no matter which service you have installed, you have to sign on the dotted sign after they are done to certify you are satisfied with the install and everything is working as it should be and the installer explained how to operate it.Also most installers have a 90 day warranty period(at least where I live they do) if anything goes wrong in that time limit you call the installer to fix it,not the service.

Good Luck! with your choices and enjoy your service...I do.

I am currently a cable subscriber considering switching to DirectTV via my local phone company Centurylink. I have had issues with my cable including frequent(read daily) HD channels that are "not available but will be shortly" which I find very frustrating I'm 15 months into a 2 year contract with them not certain if this is enough to break it, I've had them here 3 times in 4 months to "fix it" but the problem remains. Will DirectTV be better, will I have storm outages? I live in SW Wisconsin. Thanks for an & all answers, very new to this.
